Pelican Biogas is advancing a portfolio of six poultry-waste-to-biogas plants in Arkansas, with SusBDe supporting the technology and process design. For the avoidance of doubt, SusBDe has no ownership interest in Pelican Biogas. Each plant converts approximately 100,000 tons of waste into more than 35 million m³ of biogas annually, applying the same technology platform used in Europe. With first operations expected in 2027, the portfolio illustrates how proven European systems enable large-scale circular energy solutions in the U.S.
A project led by Pelican Biogas, we share the development of a portfolio of six Chicken Litter-to-Biogas plants in the U.S., specifically in the state of Arkansas.
SusBDe CTO Mike van den Hof is responsible for the technology selection and process design, ensuring full alignment with the proven systems that will also be implemented in our Polish projects. The plants will apply the same advanced fermentation and gas treatment technology that underpins SusBDe’s projects and other applications of the technology.
Each U.S. plant will process approximately 100,000 tons of poultry litter and DAF sludge (Dissolved Air Flotation) from slaughterhouses per year, generating over 35 million cubic meters of biogas annually — equivalent to an energy value capable of supplying thousands of households while significantly reducing methane emissions from agricultural waste.
SusBDe CTO Mike van den Hof works in close cooperation with the Engineer of Record, FCE, led by John Forcier, a well-known authority in the U.S. with regard to renewable energy, biogas and water management projects, with more than 100 completed or reviewed installations across the United States.
Pelican Biogas is headed by Fred Tennant, an industry veteran in renewable energy and agricultural project development, especially in the field of developing high-quality fertilizers. His mission is to advance sustainable and profitable solutions for waste management and clean energy generation through cutting-edge technology and strategic collaborations.
The first plant is expected to achieve Commercial Operation (COD) in 2027. With an average investment volume of around USD 100 million per plant, this initiative marks a major step that demonstrates how proven European technology can accelerate the circular economy across the U.S. and Europe.

Nagpur’s Bhandewadi waste-to-CBG facility is progressing from current production of approximately 28 tonnes of CNG per day towards an expected 55 tonnes per day after full commissioning. The facility received its amended Consent to Operate from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board in May 2026, confirming SusBDe LOC Nagpur Private Limited as operator and authorising CBG production of up to 2,070 m³/hour.

The Nagpur project demonstrates how perseverance, international collaboration and innovative technology can transform ambitious ideas into reality. As the project moves towards completion, it not only marks a major milestone for SusBDe and its partners, but also establishes a blueprint for the next generation of circular economy projects across India.
Following recent high-level meetings with key stakeholders in Sri Lanka, SusBDe has taken another important step towards the development of sustainable waste-to-biomethane infrastructure. During a presentation to the Maharagama Urban Council, SusBDe demonstrated how its integrated MSW-to-CBG technology can transform municipal waste into renewable energy while supporting Sri Lanka's circular economy ambitions.
SusBDe has taken an important step in advancing its sustainable waste-to-biomethane initiatives in Sri Lanka through high-level discussions with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The Embassy has expressed strong confidence in SusBDe's innovative Dutch technology and will actively support the company's engagement with government authorities and strategic partners to accelerate the development of future renewable energy projects.
SusBDe strengthens its Advisory Board with the appointment of Bert Jägel as Chairman. The renewed Advisory Board will play a more active role in supporting the company's international growth, strategic development, and long-term mission in circular waste-to-energy and biomethane infrastructure.
