Colombo, Sri Lanka – SusBDe continues to strengthen its international presence by building strategic partnerships that accelerate the deployment of sustainable waste management and renewable energy solutions. As part of this commitment, Dr. Prasanna Gunawardena, Director of SusBDe Biotech Lanka Ltd., recently held a series of high-level meetings with representatives from the diplomatic community, government institutions, and the private sector to further advance SusBDe's Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to Compressed Biogas (CBG) initiatives in Sri Lanka.
One of the key meetings took place at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, where Dr. Gunawardena met with His Excellency Wiebe de Boer, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka.
During the meeting, SusBDe presented its integrated MSW-to-CBG technology and project development approach, demonstrating how Dutch innovation can provide sustainable solutions for Sri Lanka's growing waste management challenges while simultaneously producing renewable biomethane, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and supporting the country's transition towards a circular economy.
The discussions also explored opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Dutch expertise and Sri Lankan public and private stakeholders in developing future waste-to-energy infrastructure that contributes to long-term environmental sustainability and energy security.
The Ambassador expressed a strong interest in SusBDe's innovative technology and recognised the important role Dutch sustainable solutions can play in supporting Sri Lanka's environmental ambitions and renewable energy objectives.
Beyond expressing support, His Excellency Ambassador Wiebe de Boer and his team have committed themselves to actively supporting SusBDe's initiatives by facilitating introductions to relevant government ministries, public authorities, municipalities and other key stakeholders. Their active engagement will help create the right environment for constructive dialogue, collaboration and the successful development of future waste-to-biomethane projects in Sri Lanka.
SusBDe sincerely appreciates the confidence, commitment and practical support provided by His Excellency Ambassador Wiebe de Boer and the entire Embassy team. We are grateful for their willingness to actively assist our organisation in building strong partnerships and promoting Dutch sustainable technologies in Sri Lanka. Their support represents an important step towards achieving shared environmental, economic and circular economy objectives.
Through SusBDe Biotech Lanka Ltd., SusBDe remains committed to working closely with government authorities, municipalities, investors and technology partners to develop world-class biomethane facilities that transform municipal waste into valuable renewable energy.
These initiatives form part of SusBDe's broader international mission to deliver sustainable infrastructure projects that reduce landfill dependency, lower greenhouse gas emissions, improve public health and create long-term value for local communities while contributing to global climate goals.
